96 Days

Everyone loves to tell their engagement story, and even though we have now been engaged for almost two years, am no different. I love retelling our cute tale and am so happy that Rob was able to come up with such a perfect way, for us, to get engaged!

Cue up a day I will never forget in December.  Sunday, the 14th, to be exact. We were on vacation in Lancaster, PA. Rob and I love going to Lancaster to relax and do some outlet shopping, so I thought nothing was out of the ordinary and was totally clueless as to what was going to happen that weekend.

We, well I guess I should say I, got up early on the morning of the 14th. I was all ready to go and get our day started by going to our favorite place in Lancaster, Willow Valley, for breakfast.  Rob started to complain about how he wasn't feeling well and he went in the bathroom for a while, and I kept checking on him asking if he needed anything.

He finally came out saying he felt better and that he was ready to go get breakfast. By this point, I didn't want to go out to breakfast thinking he was sick. He was insisting he was fine, and we eventually got on our way. As we went under a little cobblestone bridge, I held my breath and made a wish. (Ever heard of the superstition that if you can hold your breath the entire way under a bridge your wish will come true?) Rob asked what I wished for and I told him my wish was to get engaged soon. (I had no idea
how soon!)

When we finally got to Willow Valley Rob told me that he wasn't feeling well again and asked if we could go over by the lake to see if walking would help. (Red Flags! Red Flags!) I am getting very concerned and tell him that we should go back to our hotel room. He said that he thought he would be fine, he just needed to walk it off. We made our way over to the lake, and the next thing I knew, he was down on one knee!

I wish I could remember what he said, but I was so surprised I don't remember much of what he said. But I do remember feeling so loved and knowing that every word he said came straight from his heart! I do remember that he asked if I would marry him, and he says I never even said yes! I just let him put the ring on my finger and started to kiss him! He asked later if that meant yes! After the surprise wore off a little, we joked about how far away I backed up in surprise when he got down on one knee!

I mean, look at how far I moved back: (I was sobbing happy tears the whole time!)

That's not the last of my engagement surprise! Check back tomorrow to see what else he had up his sleeve!

Was your engagement a complete surprise to you or did you know it was coming?
